Oldoinyo Le Ngai is a volcano located in the north of Tanzania and is part of the volcanic system of the Great Rift Valley in Tanzania, Eastern Africa. It is located south of both Lake Natron and Kenya. Oldoinyo Le Ngai is Maasai for "Mountain of God". Oldonyo lengai is the only active volcano in East Africa. It reaches a height of around 2960 meter. The Maasai go to Oldonyo lengai to pray and offer sacrifices to God. The might go to the mountain to pray in cases of sickness, infertility, and other misfortunes e.g.
Day 1: Departure from Moshi or Arusha and drive to Ngaresero village (Lake Natron) This is about 8 hours driving. Dinner and overnight at Kamakia camp.
Day 2: At very early morning 1.00 a.m. drive to the base of the Oldonyo Lengai mountain to start the climb. Reach at the summit during Sunrise and spend few minutes there before coming down to the base of the mountain. From there transfer by jeep to Kamakia camp. Dinner and overnight at Kamakia camp.
