Santiago de Chili is the capital and largest city (roughly 6 million) of Chile which.  It is situated west of the Andes mountains at an altitude of 520m. The Andes mountains around Santiago are very tall, with Tupungato volcano (6,570m) being the highest peak. 
Santiago was founded by the Spanish in the 16th century.
For many visitor the Aeropuerto de Santiago de Chile will be the starting point of their visit to the country.
