Burgundy (Bourgogne in French) is one of the 22 regions of France, southeast of the capital Paris.
The region is famous for the Burgundy wine, f.e. from the Côte d'Or in the surroundings of the city of Beaune.
With its rich history and culture Burgundy has a lot to offer and is an ideal base to spend an active or relaxing holiday in a less discovered part of France.
You'll find a varied landscape, with forest, streams, hills, lakes and many beautiful castles. Amongst other places to Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan is an excellent area for hiking and biking.
Interesting cities in Burgundy are besides the aforementioned Beaune also Autun, Chalon-sur-Saône, Tournus, Cluny amongst many others.
Several GR hiking trails cross the Burgundy region.
