France trekking information

The GR 67 tour des Cevennes is a 135 km long footpath which begins and ends in the market town Anduze. It runs through both forest and open land. You can describe the landscape as a bit mountainous. The nature on this route is very beautiful. There are a lot of beautiful butterflies and flowers.

The hiking route is quite heavy. There is a lot of difference in height (from 135 m - 1120 m). The first two days are the most difficult ones. You have to climb from 135 m (Anduze) to Col Max Negre (1120m), the highest point of the route. At that point you will be rewarded as you have a marvellous view. The way is well marked with red and white paint on trees, fences and other spots.

You can spend the night in B&B, Gites d'etappes or guesthouses. This kind of accommodation is not expensive. There are only 2 campsites along the route, one in Anduze and one in Mialet, 10 km from Anduze. There are not much shops along the route. You can find shops in Anduze, Barre des Cevennes and Colognac. Water is not a problem as there are a lot of taps along the road and in the accommodation you can also get water.

The best time to do this trek is from May to October, except July and August (very hot). You can do the walk in 5 days, but most people take it more easy and do it in 7 days.
