Gosainkund trekking information

Located at 4380 meters above the sea level Gosainkund is rich in scenic beauty and holds an important place in religious terms. According the mythology it is believed that if a person takes a dip in the pond of Gosainkund and visits to the Lord Shiva's temple then they can easily attain Nirvana and again according to Hindu mythology Lord Shiva dipped in Gosainkund to relieve excruciating pain after he swallowed poison to save the world and after that this pond was named as Gosainkund. Because of its religious value every year on the occasion of Janai Purnima, a religious fair is organized in Muktinath and thousands of pilgrimages take a dip in the water.

Gosainkund can be reached through Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk. Trekking at Gosainkund Lake is also popular which quite harder trek than Annapurna or Langtang trek is.
