Extremadura borders on Castilla-Leon at the north, at the south on Andalucia, at the east on Castilla la Mancha and at the west on Portugal. Its landscapes are extremely diverse, in front of the meadow, or Mediterranean forest, we have Cáceres plains, dams, the mountain ranges of Gata and Gredos in the north, the extensive plains of La Serena in the south, and the fertile valleys of Jerte, Ambroz and La Vera. Extremadura is recognised nowadays in Spain as an ecological region over all. A sum of 54 natural areas are distributed all over Extremadura. Some of them have already been recognised officially as Natural Parks or Natural Reserves, like the Cynegetic Reserve of Cíjara, Cornalvo Natural Park or Monfragüe Natural Park, the Natural Reserve of Garganta de los Infiernos and the Natural Monument of Los Barruecos.
