Tsang trekking information

Shalu to Nartang trek begins at the historic Shalu Monastery and passes through west over a couple of small ranges to Ngor Monastery. From Ngor, it is a downhill trek to Nartang Monastery. This two-three day trek is a good opportunity to get the experience of trekking in Tibet. Because the two passes, Showa-la and Char-la, are not very high or difficult and trail routes are easily accessible form Shigatse.
The trail traverses several villages like Phunup, Pero etc as well as uninhabited dry canyons. It is about 10 hr walk to Ngor Monastery from Shalu, which is best divided into 2 days and another 5 hrs walk from there to Nartang. It is very difficult to find guides and yaks to carry loads but one can try in Shalu.
The finish point of this trek Nartang Monastery, is in Nartang. From here it is quite easy to catch a ride to Shigatse.
