Chitwan is in a western part of Narayai Zone and also one of the 75 districts of Nepal. Chitwan is also famous for the production of mustard and mustard oil. Royal Chitwan National Park (an area of 932 sq. km.) is also here in Chitwan and it is the third biggest attraction of Nepal after trekking and Kathmandu valley. Royal Chitwan National Park is also listed in UNESCO's World Heritage Site.
Chitwan has 50 different species of animals like tigers, leopards, sloth bears etc and 450 different species of birds, one horned rhinoceros, Asian elephants, Gangetic dolphins, crocodiles, Marsh Muggers, Gharials, barking deers, spotted deer, hog deer and many more animals can be seen in the jungle of Royal Chitwan National Park.
The best time to visit Chitwan is from the month of October to February.
