Along the Costa Blanca is an area jutting out into the Mediterranean Sea known as the Marina Alta. Within the province of Alicante of the Marina Alta these beautiful place is surrounded by mountains summits rising above 900 metres. The Valley is called La Vall d'Alcala. These mountains are covered by pines, palmettos, carob trees and rock roses. The color to the scenery is given to red valerians and oleanders. The inhabitants of the valley grow olives, almonds and a variety of fruits. The diverse landscape provides a habitat for a variety of animal birds and mammals.
There are dozen of Short Distance Routes if you want to hike around the district Les Valls de la Marina. These senderos run through some of the prettiest scenery in the area.
The mountains in the area offer hiking and horseback trails. The beaches and Valencia are also not very far, so you can combine visiting these places. Other interesting places are Javea, Moraira and Calpe.
